genuine panel or not?

hi its my first time posting on here so i hope im in the right section.
my question is this: ive bought a complete rear panel for one of my mk1s from a chap on ebay that was advertised as a genuine panel and came in a vw box. however the panel has no vw-audi logo stamp on it and is poor quality. it does have a sticker on it thats got the date 06/10/2008. having contacted the chap he has confirmed that this is a panel made in south africa and insists that its a genuine panel.
my opinion is that its not a genuine panel and is no more than a pattern part and advertising it as a genuine panel is misleading.
 Who's right :dontknow:

without a stamp it isn't a genuine vw made panel. from what i understand

it may be a genuine mk1 golf panel but is it a genuine vw made mk1 panel?

my guess is its a citi golf rear panel so not vw made.
it will however be a genuine panel for a citi golf.

bit like when beetles where made in brazil they looked the same but quality was not as good

but vw own the companys in south africa who still make the citi, so technically they are still vw made, just not vw made in germany

if there a panel made by vw why is the quality so poor? wether vw-germany or vw south africa youd expect them to have he same high standards
