hello all had a good week end at the gathering my 5th gear packed in at preston had to nurse it home to scotland if any one can help me on to were to get one would be great 1.6 cabrio carb 1987 engine code ewo cheers sidie

I got one from Mark (funk-star) on here when mine did the same; cost me an arm and a leg to fit annoyingly, but the box was a good price and is working really well at the moment

hello again thanks for your reply just got a quote from a breaker down in kent for a gear box 125 pound and 50 pound p and p to the highlands of scotland dont no what to do mate

I paid less than half that, both for the box and the shipping. Try a wanted ad on here first? Also, get the gearbox code from underneath if you don't want to end up with the wrong ratios (or at least, want to know what changes to your gearing you're going to make if you just fit any gearbox).

CrazyQuiff do rebuilt boxes, but they're not cheap - however, given the work to swap the box, if your car is in really good condition and you plan on keeping it for a long time, that's probably the best route.
