Garage Storage

Hi all,
Signed up a couple of years ago, but been away and just remembered password.

What i'm looking for is some advice on car storage. My car has been stored in a pretty good dry garage for getting close to 2 years now whilst i was backpacking. Before i left the car i left the handbrake off, windows slightly open and about half a tank of petrol in.

I realise that i amd likely to need new tyres, but was planning this anyway, and i think the brakes may be a bit stuck with rust. Also i disconnected the battery but think i will probably need a new one.

Is there any other advice anyone has that i can do to ensure it is ok. Any anticipations of problems, or thoughts if this is ok to store the car for so long.

The car is a pretty solid, original example by the way.

well working at a car garage myself. we had a cortina round the back stood for 5 years!! we got a new battery.. put it on and VROOM the braes will be a bit dodgy at first (few miles) so take it easy… make sure everything works before hitting the road (lights indicators horn etc) but if it has been dry stored, it should be ok!!(a that advice off a bird, who'da thought!!)

Gary is now garaged, Baby is on her way.
Next up is marriage, Who knows when i'll get him out to play!

Change all the fluids and filters, put a tiny amount of oil through the spark plug bores and get a new MOT. Might not run too well on degraded petrol though!

I'd also change the fanbelt and the cambelt (total cost ?15) as they will be more prone to snapping after sitting for that long.
