garage did me set up 2day help pls analysing results
me babys been in the garage today for a set up
results look great BUT
the spec sheet they used was for a EV code engine , mines a dx
will it make any difference
oh and whats a LAMBDA

By set up do you just mean mixture (CO)?

'diagnostic check on engine and adjust to specification'
'fuel pressure check 85psi'
as on the reciept
got co, co2, coc, hc, o2, lambda, at idle and fast idle
cheers

oh and whats a LAMBDA
IYou have a LAMBDA probe that monitors burnt gas in the exhaust, fitted to cars with a Catalytic converter!!!
Description i found is
A system for monitoring the operatibility of catalytic converters and/or lambda probes in exhaust gas detoxification systems. It is characterised in that a pollutant sensor is placed downstream of (in relation to the exhaust gas stream) or in the catalytic converter, in that the lambda value and/or oxygen content of the exhaust gas are altered by a specific amount either by the engine or by a device, and in that the electrical output signal from the pollutant sensor is compared in a comparator circuit to a value curve stored in a storage unit and corresponding to the defined alteration of the lambda value
I would say they used it to measure the effective burn of your engine.

CO is carbon monoxide - The harmful stuff
CO2 is carbon dioxide - Harmless to us but bad for the greenhouse apparently
not sure what COC is??
HC is hydro carbons - basically unburnt fuel (measured in PPM parts per million)
O2 oxygen - sure you know what that is
lambda :dontknow: - I think this is something to do with atmospheric pressure?
Pre cat cars, pre 1994 i think? are allowed 3.5% CO at idle IIRC Thats really the most inportant reading as far as MOT is concerned. This reading would be high if its running rich, also the HC's would be high as well. CO2 doesn't really matter. It'll fail on lambda if you've got an exhaust blow. I think a blocked air filter has the same effect as well.

matey reckoned that it was around the same as a car with a cat 1.009
mine hasnt as u know!!
does it make any difference that the spec sheet they used was for an 'ev' code engine not a dx

No makes no odds really, as long as its around the same year, i.e. pre cat. The readings would still be the same. Thats a bit lean if anything i think :dontknow: isn't the spec about 2% for a mk1?

I would say not, the LAMDA probe on a Digifant system will tell the ECU it's running rich or lean and adjust the mixture, as you know the K-jetronic system only regulates fuel flow by air intake, with an enrichmnet for cold starting (Cold start value and warm up regulator).
if the outupt if low like you say it just means is running well.

I've no idea what the fuel pressure should be. Haynes manual might tell you.
Readings sound good. could probably afford to richen it up a bit. May give a little better performance.

thats the bit on the metering head that you need a long 3mm allen key for yes?

Thats the one! Don't get attempting it without a CO meter though!!!! You could end up makin it too rich/lean and you'd have no idea of where the correct setting should be.

mechanic reccomended leaving it alone as it hasnt been touched for ages,
and he reckons that if its got stuck, fiddling could knacker the metering head.
i am tempted tho…

 a trip to the docters always helps . im not gonns pretend to know weather those figures are correct or not , but the more knowledgable on here seem to give her the OK was the garage a tuner or a fixer , if you know what i mean ??
