Famous VW Golf MK1 Owners

I've been asked to undertake a project which involves researching famous faces and names who have owned or currently own a classic car.  As the VW Golf MK1 is a classic I wondered if anyone knew of any famous names who have owned one or currently have one.

One that was owned by Richard Branson of Virgin was up for sale a few weeks back on ebay. cheers bob

My car was on BBC, ITV and Sky news last week speeding past reporters near the school under investigation in Mark Cross.  Does that make me or the car famous? Or just desperate for fame (still haven't had a mention on 'was it you?' section yet :cry: )

Why do I get the feeling you know the answer to that already.

BTW, speeding past a school is bound to make you of some interest to the boys in blue, even if it's closed.

The Police were too busy sitting on their backsides picking their noses.  They've closed off the road at a junction and have been there since saturday before last - they look soooo bored.

My Golf was originally bought by Derby County defender Roy McFarland in 1981, from V&F Monaco motors in Kensington (still got dealer sticker in window!). He played for England 23 times and was signed by Brian Clough. Currently manager of Chesterfield Utd.
