Failed her MOT today
The fog light works fine, but the little light in the switch doesn't!
Ordered a new switch from euro car parts who are, as i type, delivering it to the garage.
Hopefully when i go back at 5pm it should be cool and have passed!?
I was dreading today! Well impressed!
Of all the things I thought it might fail on, that was not one of them!
Cheers,
Liam

The tester must have been very bored, or very picky, or just got out of bed the wrong side this morning…
Unfortunate but at least they should retest it for free this afternoon I guess…

everyone knows NO-ONES fog light bulbs work anyway - well at least i think thats the case with the amount of idiots driving round with them on all the time.
Don't go for an MOT there again then.

However, euro car parts have let me down today went back down there at 5 to find they hadn't delivered the switch and after much chasing on the phone turns out they haven't got switches in stock anyway.
So with me working all day tomorrow the chances of the free re test are getting slimmer and slimmer.
Gonna ring GFS tomrrow from work to see if they can help me out!
Cheers,
Liam

Thing is you can tell by looking at the switch if its on or not, and you cant see the little light away as its behind the steering wheel from the drivers seat view

If you want to avoid using the garage for it, then I suppose that's your choice, there's plenty of others who do MoTs. But they're just doing their job, right?

I feel strongly that the MOT should be a good as possible and cars should be corrosion and mechanical defect free.

MoT testers still have a lot of discretion, for example, corrosion, condition of wiper blades, how much 'play' is too much in the wheel bearings and suspension components, etc etc. so its worth staying on the side of the MoT tester, for sure! No point making enemies. My local garage understands that they aren't really going to get any work off me and also they're really quite busy, so they don't 'generate' work by failing on things then offering to repair it.
On the original point, on a Mk1 Golf, the tiny little light that indicates if the rear foglamp is on, is rather ineffective!!! So I can see your point about having a little moan about it. Doesn't help when ECP muck you around either.

Even though i was told last night there was no record of my order and that the switches were out of stock!
So i managed to get the free re-test! :?
So i now have an mot'd golf that i know has been thoughly tested!
Fantastic!
Maybe it was the ear-bashing i gave them down the phone yesterday evening?! Or maybe they just don't keep track of they're orders?
I don't care, i have an mot! Hey Hey!
Just as well that GFS, VW and my local breakers yard were all out of stock!

They say they're out of stock, but they probably have one physically there, the computer just doesn't know about it!
