eurocarparts..what d`ya think of this...?

phoned them last week to check prices/availability of gear linkage bush kit and clutch cable, spoke to a nice woman, she gave me a price of iirc circa £8.50 + vat for the cable but she could find no details of the bush kit,but no problem, she`d call me back later in the day….good few hours later, having had no call i rang them again, spoke to a bloke this time,to be told that she was chasing up the bush kit and that she would get back to me…ok then..i called again the next day after getting no return call, spoke to a bloke who asked `is it about the golf clutch cable ?` `yes but i`m expecting a call back regarding a bush kit also`.. after being told that he`d get  her to call me, i asked him if he`d get me the cable, which he said would take 2 days, `no problem` i said,`cos when the woman sorts/gets back to me about the bush kit i`ll pick all of it up together`
rang them again yesterday (after no call back AGAIN) to be told that the cable had been passed on to another branch to be sold, cos it`d been sat on their shelf for 5 days  8O  when i said i`d been waiting for a call from them,i was then told that they could`nt get the bush kit !
i then spoke to the same woman who said `no problem,i`ll get you another cable but it`ll be a couple of days, but i`ll ring you tomorrow to confirm
well i got my call today to say that yes they could get one…great..or so i thought..i asked again what the price was just to confirm…she came back with `well i`ve spoken to my parts manager and he say`s that there will be a £15 delivery charge (on top of the price) because they got one before, and i did`nt go for it,and that it will be a special order`…. 8O  8O
GSF it is from now on then..the way i see it now is, i should have had a call back regarding the bush kit/clutch cable and they now want to charge me an extra £15 because they cocked up…shame really because euro is 5 mins from me but i won`t be dealing with them any more..is this the way to deal with customers?

After all that they should be giving you free postage, not charging you for it lol.

i was going to pick it up, the £15 was for it to be delivered to them, which they were wanting to pass on to me..GUESS AGAIN

Mate they sent me a radiator (not cheap) which was completely wrong and refused to refund me because it was over 7 days or so even though it was their mistake and I'd entered my reg on their site to order it !?!?!?

MEMBERS BEWARE - you have to get the parts and fit them straight away.  They will not accept any fault after 7 days or so even if they send you the wrong part.  Now, I don't know about you but as a car enthusiast I have to wait for weather and time to work on my car and this could take weeks not days!  They also sent incorrect bearings and switches.  You'd think nothing could go wrong typing in your reg but I assure you it can.

I am sticking to my local AVP (All Vehicle Parts) or GSF.  Wouldn't touch Eurocarparts again.

well to be honest they`ve lost out on a fair bit apart from the golf stuff cos me and the mrs have vw dailys`,and members of my family/friends have vw and mercs and i do get a few people ask me to do work or just price parts, and  whilst i don`t deal with massive amounts of cash with them…every little helps eh ?
gonna try AVS for the golf stuff as well as GSF.

We have a Euro Car Parts rep on the forum. Please can you pm him and tell him about your experiences. They need to know to be able to put things right.

Look in Members Lounge for his posts.

To balance this a little, when I refurbed my engine earlier this year I was sent the wrong air filter, it was too large for my air box. The Preston branch exchanged it without hassle and it was more than 7 days after delivery.

I pm'd him and also posted in the members section without any response a couple of times before giving up.  It seems to be the experience above where they dont reply  :dontknow:

well dano,i suppose to be fair,it`s dependant on branch/staff is`nt it..there will be other branches (not mine.lol) that will do a good job,and i have dealt with euro previously and had no complaints so when they opened a branch within spitting distance from me,it seemed sensible for it to be my first choice..but i suppose the branch is only as good as the staff. thanks for the heads up on the europarts forum member…would be ideal if a link to this could be added one of his posts, but i don`t know how to do it  :redfaced:  could anyone oblige ?

I recently retuned a full set of discs and pads for my Audi A4 that I never fitted. I had them in my garage for over a year, lost the receipt and everything and they took them back and swapped them for a full set of Sachs springs and shocks for my Mk1, so I guess it is dependant on the store.

That sounds like very poor customer service to me mate.

Does depend on the store though as said above as the one nearest to me have always been great.

It certainly depends what branch. Some have complete dumbasses working there, and some are brilliant!  The Manc EuroCP has always been great for me and GSF has been the one to avoid.

last one i went to the sales staff were very loudly b*tching about a member of staff not present who was next to useless, now i'm all for getting rid of crap staff but don't have a very loud conversation that your customers can hear, its not very professional. nor is ignoring customers waiting at the desk.

If it wasn't for the convenience of price and locality i'd go else where.

To be fair the Warrington branch have been excellent every time I've dealt with them.

Had great experience, clutch cable was not in stock at 10:30am, he told me to come back at 3 and it will be delivered for me then!

All down to the branch, I stopped using the Leicester one due to so many cock ups even after pointing out on their computers which one I wanted they'd still turn up wrong.

Then I got to know someone who worked there and while there has still been a couple of cock ups due to parts in wrong boxes or wrong labels on the boxes the service has been great. He admits himself that ECP can be utter shite, he's been trying to get me a price on some crank bearings and has had no response from his own special orders team.
