DVLA and tracing old car

Does anyone know how to do this?   :dontknow:  :dontknow:

I didn't think you were allowed to access present keeper details of vehicles due to data protection and security etc, but was speaking to someone last night who's mate did just that by contacting the DVLA.

The lad I spoke to didn't know much more other than his friend had contacted them and was able to trace his old car (Escort MK1 - I think)

I would love to know the whereabouts of my first GTI - KRO203Y and buy it back if poss  :D :D

Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

Difficult this one - due to Data Prtoection.

If you call them, they will probably be able to tell you if it is still registered or if it has been scrapped etc, though I very much doubt if they would give you any information relating to the current owner.

A friend of mine called once to ask if the number plate OMA113Y existed as his name was O'Malley. They said yes it did and was registerd to a car currently on the road, but would not give him any more detail.

I think the DVLA can write to the current owner on your behalf giving them your contact details, it is then up to the current owner if they want to contact you or not.  I think that's how it works. They can't give you the information for reasons alreadt stated above.
