Distributor Problem

Here is a picture of my Distributor without the cap on

can anyone tell me what is missing from my Distributor, there is nowhere on this to put the rotor arm.

My Golf is a 1987 1.8 but i am not sure whether or not it is Mk1 or Mk2, i think it is Mk1

think you'll be better using photobucket and getting the pic up on here for people to veiw it.

the problem is that its a mk2 :mrgreen:

Apart from the cap - nothing - what you can see there is the rotor arm.  That is the speed limiting type rotor arm

I have bought a Rotor Arm for the model and it looks like this

thanks fella. yep thats the rotor arm pull it off and fit a new one. looks like it's had after market ignition fitted. i could be wrong though. :dontknow:

as crazyquiff said the one fitted has a rev limit on it where as the new one doesnt simply pull of push on :wink:

The dust protection cover is missing. Its not the most critical part in the world, though.
