D'OH....

Ok, in a very dozy moment I ran back in to the house to get something from my room.  Didn't take my shoes off and trod a lump of grease all across the carpet

I know this isn't the carpet shampoo forum but any suggestions??

Ben -sadly it's my mother and not my house so moving back to my place is easiest

Try interior cleaner #1 from Turtle Wax, its a green aerosol tin and it has a plastic bristled brush on it. Repeated applications should eventually shift it. You might have to do the whole carpet, otherwise you'll leave a clean patch which will be noticeable.

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

if its still wet put salt on it to draw most of the moisture out then dilute vinegar in some warm water and dab over the top. But DONT scrub coz you'll just move the grease over a wider area.
This comes from many years of my other half walking over my carpet!

swarfega or fairy liquid both good degreasers or washing powder apply neat with a little water then scrub but will end up having to shampoo whole carpet as you will have clean patch

Luckily (or unluckily I suppose) I've left so many stains I've tried a fair few of the suggestions. It was a big lump of gearbox oil and mud off the box that I trudged all the way through the house.

So far vanish stain stick is the winner, washing powder and aloe vera Fairy liquid aren't up to the job.  Salt absorbs but then you have to vacuum it before you can wash it.

Hmmmm  going to be a long night…

I used some Auto Glym interior cleaner at the weekend. It lifted a 3 month old grease stain from my seat, sure it would be worth a go?

?5 a bottle from Halfords (3 for 2 on all Auto Glym products, as it happens)

Peace
