Computer Note Pads

Anyone know anything about these? I need to get one for work - basically need wireless, Microsoft Office and that is about it. Do not need a CD-ROM so trying to find a good one…..anyone?

Cheers.

You can pick up really small notebooks (10" screen) for about ?300 with Windows, or ?200 with Linux (I wouldn't bother unless you've used it before).

If you need a full size one (15-17") then get on to Dell, or Euro PC which does re-conditioned Dell stuff quite cheaply.

cheers mate - don't need a big screen really. Just want something that works well and is not redundant in 2 months time. I have a dell laptop and it has been rather poor however think this comes down to the fact that it is on its last legs!!!

i have the advent netbook which is great.
really small and more than capable of doing what i need it to (just about runs pshop cs3 too)
still have a second machine though for anything that needs a CD drive. (have to copy programs to a flash card to get them onto the netbook)

I'm also using a little netbook - MSI Wind U100 - got it for $300 with XP, not sure how much it is over there, but really love it.  Small enough to carry around and actually prefer it over my Dell Latitude 810 I use for work.  Great surfing, general purpose machine.

and because when they first came out they cooked them selfs.

how is steve jobs and is it uncomfortable sitting on his apple?

LINUX rules.

n.b.
please excuse my comments. i understand that any mac user will dislike anything that has not personally been farted on by steve jobs. i do actually quite like mac's. i dont like the lack of testing though. or the fashion accessory status they carry.

I dont know many call centres who could afford to run macs and know of even fewer IT techs who could actually run an apple network.

Thanks for the comments. I reckon I got about ?500-?600 to play with. The Netbooks look quite good - been having a look as just want something small and easy to take on planes and get email and do powerpoint blah blah...

i used mine on a recent trip to aktau instead of my work laptop (which is huge) it was great. and it ment i could sit in the bar and work at night without any problems. the battery life on them is pretty good i sat and worked for 4 hrs with no issues.

on a more serious note to my previous posts, have you considered something along these lines:

kind of the same lines of thinking as a mobile phone contract except with REALLY small computers i think!

Thanks bigdave.

Have thought of this but heard you can get netbooks/notebooks where you can just add your sim card in and then get online which would be my preference I think. Probably need to go and take a look at some but always good to get some ideas.
