claiming compensation for damage to car from the council????
I'm interested to know if anyone on here has had dealings with the council on claiming for damage, and outcomes and any tips would be appreciated.
I'll be taking pictures tomorrow of the damage and pothole.
cheers Mark

i hit a pot hole 2-3years ago in my ibiza at night in the fog, and i had a double blow out down 1 side, needless to say had to get recovered, recovery driver said i needed take photo with something in the pot hole it self show how deep it was etc get the work done 2 tires and tracking in my case, get receipt and go see them, etc
i never bothered
A.
becuase i dont know if there is any truth in this
and B.
at the end off the day even thou it was dark etc and poor visibilty where i was, i could hear there reply and like most people would say should off been looking where you was going, or you could off done that anywhere and just picking at us becuase you saw a pot hole,
as rude as that last bit sounds its kinda true in most cases, i know the dam things are a joke, and round here there like grand canons i swear,
but if your gonna do it you would need lay it on thick like,
like i could not avoid it was traveling the speed limit by the time u saw it was to late to do anything as had oncoming traffic so could not suddenly change direction, it was ride it out or a head on etc
personaly i know £140 a lot off money, and money is tight for me at present i personly could not be doing with the grief to get no where
but good luck fella, report back if it does get a result

They are useless anyway, your paying them for something you could and can easily do yourself.
How do i know i did it myself, nothing road related, I ended up in court on my own against their poxy solicitor and 6 of their employees and ripped them apart.
We all have spare time, use it, collect evidence and you CAN beat them.
Just because someone did not bother due to hassle etc doesn't mean a thing, it is down to you to pursue it.
Get pictures, drive down the same road again in daytime with camera attached or pass holding one at the speed limit showing that you do have to avoid it therefore you are a danger to other road users due to your actions i.e changing direction due to their incompetence of repairing the road of which you pay your taxes for.
It is not for you to prove your innocence.
Record all phone conversations for collection of evidence i.e. they can not say this was said etc.
Send them recorded letter stating the circumstances give them 7 days to reply, during this time record footage of road each day inc the pothole, make sure footage dated and see when they repair it.
But before you send letter off, record the pothole daily before they get an heads up to try and cover their backsides.
Be smart, most of it is common sense and trust me you will win.
Good luck and go for it.

I've been out this morning to take pictures of potholes and i'm not kidding theres 5 in a row, all about 3" deep and the biggest being 1200mm x 500mm so personally if i can't get this RS6 alloy fixed and have to buy a new 1 i want some money off the council.
Not to mention the day off work it's cost me so my initial estimate of £140 could end up costing me £540.

Do recall a Watchdog feature on one show about peeps complaints to council - kinda all ended in disspointment as council wont take ownership - weather etc being best brush off
Good luck anyway m8

At the end of the day, council tax payers will pay for any compensation claims, so in a way they're right for saying no.
