Car Valuation

I know this is an insurance subject essentially but i need a quick response so apologies for the wrong forum.

I was going to have to get rid of my car, my beautiful MK1 that i love so much because i coudlnt afford the insurance renewal with the big boys. through some great advice on the forums i've been quoted:

TPFT: ?620, excess ?375
Full Comp: ?843, excess ?400

This is with: 12 months, with windscreen cover, courtesy car, 6,000 miles a year, break down cover in europe and track day cover (as long as its organised or approved by the ATDA).

Now bear in mind this is with all my modifications declared as well (and thats a fair bit). And i'm only 20 and have 1 years no claims bonus.

If i go with Chaucer who quoted me above it will be classified as a classic car (with modifications declared).

Here are the questions:
1. Can anyone on this site give me a a proper valuation of my car so that i can have an agreed value of the car with the insurer (MrGTI / mods, people who run or work in the trade)???

2. Which should i go for Full Comp or TPFT?

Details about the car
1983 Series 2 MK1 1.6
(refurbished engine in 2001) - no modifications
fully stripped to shell and rebuilt including:
new electrics, new windows, new lights, new windscreen wiper motors, original interior, new suspension, scraped arches, 15" alloys, new but original spec brakes, brand spanking new paint job, private number plate, custom roof aerial, custom exhaust, custom bumpers (colour coded). New sunroof mechanisms, new sunroof, new seals, immobilser.

The car has done 101,500K on the clock, but as i said it was refurbed in 2001 and the clocks were on 62K so it's only done about 40K since refurb. I have history dating back to 2001 when the car was officially reregistered with the DVLA, i have over 6-700 receipts for the car as well.

Here are pictures:

I would really really appreciate an evaluation from as many people as possible, i'd like to have an agreed valuation of around ?2-?3k (i realise i probably couldnt sell it for this but it's had over ?7000 spent on it (and thats just on the receipts and bits i've got (which isnt all of it).

It is difficult to just give a figure out of thin air…
Because you have modified it and it is now missing many original items such as bumpers, side trims, wheels etc, even paint colour, it could technically be worth less in the eyes of a club like this one, even though you have spent lots on the mods themselves.

It is likely that they just want you to come up with a figure and they will either agree or disagree (By getting an independant assessor to view photos tha you will have to provide).
If you state that the car is worth more than a specified amount (?20k for example) then they will require a specialists examination report. These details will be in the paper work you would be sent to fill in.

If you say ?3k, it is more than likely they will just agree. Most Mk1's with agreed value policies tend to be in the ?2k to ?4k range and will all be self declared values with photo proof to back it up.
