Car Tax
Hi, just been putting my car back on the road and made enquires regarding Car Tax exemption, as it is now older than 25years old, I have been speaking to DVLA and they say the law as changed in respect of exemption and this is only available for vehicles registered before 1973!
I was just wondering if anyone's got any golfs with tax exemption? Or if anyone has any thoughts!!

The DVLA said the law only changed in last couple of years! However I have a friend who as a motorbike registered in 1977 and this is exempt, and the DVLA said, that they must of had it exempt prior to the law changing!

VED exemption facts:
Since the 1998 budget, vehicles built before January 1, 1973, have been exempt from road tax. However, before this time, the cut-off point was for all vehicles over 25-years old.
This is how i've always known it unless i'm being dumb??

Exactly - so its never been a rolling 25 years, its ALWAYS been pre 73. They basically mooted that it would be rolling, but it never was.

Well never mind, just thought I'd ask, as I'm obviously not as old as some people to remeber the 1998 budget!!
