I got one from a car cover company and its not that great, its supposed to let moisture in so it'll breathe, but whenever it rains the car gets soaked, but ti does dry out.
I've just sent them an email to see if they have a better one…
i went for the Voyager, but have now emailed to see if they can do a deal on the monsoon as it should be btter for the winter
there sales pitch via return email to my original request is

As requested we now quote for their Monsoon and Voyager Outdoor covers for your VW Golf and advise the full specifications are as follows:
Monsoon: These are sturdy covers that have been specially designed for outdoor, winter protection. The outer layer is robust yet pliable PVC and the cover is soft lined for maximum care of paint and body fittings. Monsoon covers fit snugly with elasticated hems and a unique detachable strap system for ease of fitment. Roof vents allow dispersal of any condensation or build up of damp.
These robust covers have been designed for cars that remain outdoors through winter & rainy seasons and will provide full protection against rain, snow, frost, tree sap, birds, dirt, dust, scuffs & scratches. Double stitching and heat sealed seams ensure long life & that the weather remains on the outside of the cover!
'Monsoon' covers offer maximum protection, yet at a sensible price. They are suitable for continual use in all winter weather conditions including very low temperatures where the fabric still remains pliable.
Special Internet Price ?106.50 Incl Vat
Voyager: A very strong yet lightweight breathable covers for both ʽin garageʼ and outdoor use. Fabric breathability ensures that damp or condensation can evaporate away from the covered car whilst water resistance is maintained by a special bonded coating that ensures that 95% of rain is shed from the fabric surface.
Voyager covers feature double stitching for strength, elasticated hems and a unique detachable strap system is included for ease of fitment with anti scratch fittings. They are manufactured from a latest generation 210G silver fabric that reflects UV & sunshine. The construction & durability of Voyager covers makes them a favourite in both hot climates & very cold conditions. The fabric is non abrasive and compresses down to a compact size that is ideal for tucking in the back when not in use. Special Internet Price: ?59.95 incl vat
I'll lte you know how i get on
if you are interested tho there email is carcoveruk@yahoo.co.uk
I ordered the Voyager one, and it was ok.. At the time i mentioned to the club about it as I had negotiated a club discount with the place, I think someone was going to follow it up and make it 'official' but i dont think it ever happened…
I've now passed on the voyager one to MK1JOHN and I've got myself the Monsoon one, its a better cover for my needs and its breathable plus totally waterproof, perfect for when i had my cabby with its mohair roof and perfect now for tintop with it slightly leaking sunroof…
i got the monsoon for me outside and MK1 John has my old voyager for inside use..
The Monsoon was great over winter, kept the car dry and let it breathe..
the voyager would be best for indoor use tho

monsoon was fine, didnt have a mk1 during the really high winds recently, but in last lot it was fine, depends on how you do the straps, mine has 4, one goes under n round each wheel, once pulled tight its sweet, even stayed on during last years floods

Take your point about the cover rubbing the paint off the corners its just an easy option and I suppose I'm just being lazy I could easily build a carport for a few hundred quid at the side of the house.
