can anyone help

ok so i got an 86 golf 1.8 bone stock other then new plugs/wires/fuel filter an a magnaflow exhaust. the problem im having is when im in a low gear an low rpm it rocks an jumps forward an back untill i am up to about 40mph if not more. an it dies as well. like pullin up to stop signs an stop lights. im only 18 an got no clue what it could be. also in order to take off from a stop i have to give what i know is way to much gas… if anyone can help i would appreciate it.

gonna go for a wild shot here and try give some advice, sounds to me like the idle control valve. but i'd wait for someone else to say what they think

GTI or Carb?

its not a GTI but its fuel injected. another guy told me possibly my idle control valve. but said before i act on that get other advice an see if any people agree.
