Cabby Centre Arm Rest

Saw this pic on the popular online auction website and noticed its a MK1 cabby with a centre arm rest.

Does anyone know if it was a option on UK cars? I cant find any reference to it in the haynes manual.  

Has anyone got one fitted?  Are they a rare item?

they are used by floppy drivers to rest their arms while the nail varnish is drying

I want one it will stop me from dropping me nail varnish on the floor when I go around corners!

But seriously I think they come from an audi and fit where the ashtray sits?

what do you mean by fits where the ashtry is mk1s have the ash tray in the dash  :wink:

there is one where the back of the naildrying perch would go too. unless there not there on a floppy?

They are aftermarket armrest for mk1 and mk2's, i got one 2 year back for the mk2 and what a T*** they are to fit, near impossible, sent mine back

Be warned thou, as i said they are a bugger to fit, makes you wonder why the seller never got round to fitting it

sorry but on later cabs and mk2 it sits where the ashtray (rear) and the handbrake lever is!

No just an observation ops:

arm rests????????? surely the next step would be sunvisor manicure set, box of tissues on the rear shelf and a tartan picnic rug and a chrome boot rack
