Buyer Beware.

As a relatively new member to the forum, I have still spent many enjoyable hours browsing the forum for rare and spare parts. Dipped into the massive reservoir of knowledge to help solve the little problems we all encounter. The sense of community is obvious. There is a real club feel. The willingness to assist others with either information, spares or a helping hand is genuinely refreshing.
It is however, the less social side of things that I am writing about.
On two seperate occasions I have bought parts from the same member. On both occasions I was left disappointed. The first was nothing more than having to wait six weeks to receive the bits. Not such a big deal except, when you feel you`ve been ripped off you are in limbo. You don`t go and buy more bits, because maybe they will arrive. So whatever project  or repair you are doing is on hold indefinately.
The bits arrived, eventually and after many phone calls, with an excuse that sounded plausable and made me feel like the unreasonable one.
Because of that, I had no hesitation using the guy again. This time, it took 3 MONTHS for me to finally realise I had been done.
This wasn`t for a huge amount of money, it doesn`t have to be. It`s the principle and for the reason given earlier, you are in Limbo again.
I have reported the guy to Steve Law (secretary) and I`ve been told this is not the first time for the guy. Several times he has been reported for the way he does his business.
I have always tried to be reasonable. I have phoned him dozens of times, e-mailled and he just blanks me.
His member name is Scouse and his business name is 1 Golf Ahead.
Although he might be a good-guy and I`ve just been unlucky, several other members have been just as unlucky as I have.
This is agreat Forum for lovers of the MK1 Golf. It was set up to help people, not to act as a vehicle to prey on the trust-worthy.
Well done to everyone involved in the production of this web-site, and keep up the good work.
