Bumbers - Mk 1

I'm trying to source a front and rear bumber set for what I think is a Mk1 Golf.  I'm in the UK but the person who wants the bumbers is a friends son who is the USA.  He advised me that the bumber is European style and before I try and hunt across scrapyards of England I wanted to be sure what I was after.  He says they came on 74-76 or 77 VW
Golfs in Europe They are small metal bumpers. He is looking for a set of
these in chrome preferably, silver or black.

I can forward a photo if anyone can help.

Thanks

Sorry not picking fun at you but "BUMBERS" lol This is a common spelling mistake on this site. Had to have a giggle.

Again I'm not having ago its just funny

I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday :D

Daniel the early small metal bumpers (particualry chrome) are very fashionable at present and demand high prices. I have seen small chrome bumpers exceed figures of ?500 on ebay!

You can still buy non-chrome metal bumpers in black or grey.

I'll try and find a company that sells them and post a link to some chrome bumpers if I can find any.

Hope this helps.

?225 and an hour or so left - I reckon he's gonna pull them before the end…

Not worth that in my opinion though as they have a couple of dings.

I'd love to know where you can get a pair of ORIGINAL VW chrome bumpers complete with brackets, end caps, rubbers and indicators cheaper than ?225?

Well my set only cost me around ?145
Took a bloody long time to find though (Managed to find a front one and took 2 yrs to get a rear to match!)
Both original VW but I think one has been re-chromed. Came complete with everything though - Bumpstrips, end Caps, Hangers - even the little tow eyes! So I'm not complainign one bit!

Ah - I actually got them 2 to 3 years ago, so just before they became THE thing to have on your Mk1!

I suppose that helps explain the lower price a bit!
