You're way out Ade, can only be about a tenner, but in the spirit of the club I'll give £50 for it

In all seriousness, Sportlines I've seen advertised lately in decent nick from memory have been about the £3k mark

Nice one Ade ;)I'm sure he will be wanting a bit more than that…

There is one L reg for sale as a classified ad through eBay at the moment.

See here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251252016588?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Might give you an idea on how to price your own… This is an L reg so it's after August 1993 - a little rarer and might be more sought after. The 'how many left' website shows 204 mk1 gti sportline cabriolets left - with 140 Licenced and 64 on SORN. These cars are becoming increasingly harder to find with lowish milage and fsh. Would need to see your pics to give a more accurate assessment.

Best of luck with your sale.

Cheers Hugh.

Hi Lewi

Is that the original plate? so yours is on an L as well?

I looked and looked as i really wanted an L reg red sportline but the only one i could find was CatC or D, so i ended up with a J plate in the end

Sportlines have really fluctuated in price over the last 12-18 months , ive seen ones needing alot of work for £1000-£1500 - some bargain sound cars around £2500, but most standard cars are fetching £3000-£5000

For me the mileage was a big reason on what i paid for sportlines when i was looking as i was always thinking about re sale long term and how desirable it would be for people looking for one

135K is a little higher on the mileage side then some that have been for sale lately but i would say you (a) have a black one (2) L plate (3)get the original wheels back on, loose the spolier, basically get it back factory and then try it at the higher end of prices above and see what offers you get

but to make it easy i will up ade's offer and give you £1500 !

Good luck with sale mate

I agree with Rich

I desperately wanted an L plate too but settled for a Black J reg in the end with 128k on it.

It needed a few minor jobs but is all sorted now.

I would suggest between £3,500 - £4,000 purely because its am L reg and has a new Mohair roof. Depends what mechanical condition it's in etc etc.

Good luck with the sale.

It's all about condition, history and what's been done on it.

Pics would give a more accurate estimate for people ?

L reg would not make me any more for a Sportline over any others as its all dependent on the individual cars condition.

The previous comments on its potential value are accurate but all cars are only worth what people are prepared to pay for it.

Get some pics up of both the interior, exterior and engine bay and u will get a better idea.

Guys this is great help - thanks.
Will take advice on board - get it back to original position, give it a tidy up and stick some pics up.

My offer was tongue in cheek - lol.

The wife's L Reg red Sportline cost us £2.5k about 4 years ago. It needed a roof, a coat of paint, refurbed alloys and the brakes sorting. It had 93K on the clock.
So not the worst and not the best.
All of the above was done plus it had the seats refaced in leather and a new interior carpet set. I also added a H&R comfort kit, Eibach Anti roll bars and Corsa power steering. The brakes are now 256mm at the front with rear disks, good ridge hoses, copper/nickel pipes and a 16V servo/master cylinder.

The agreed value is now £6K.

Hopefully gives you a better idea.

You need to make a list of what needs doing:
Does it need any paint? Rust any where including underneath?
Any imperfections in the interior?
Are the alloys kerbed or corroded?
Is it mechanically sound? Brakes, engine, gearbox
Has the fuel filler neck been replaced?
Is it HPI clear with no cat c or d on its record?
Roof condition?
Are all the electrics working, including roof, MFA etc

Cheers,
Ade
