Bad parts and inflated prices
Is anyone else having a bum deal with VW Heritage?
Recently I've started noticing things and thought I'd let others know as when you buy from VW Heritage you expect decent quality right? Wrong.
Bought a small light rear panel which was only a half panel and was a bad fit
Then looked at several parts which are stupidly over priced. The brake retainer clips for example £2.80 each from heritage, 30p from VW!
Ordered a scuttle panel from there. When it turned up it was left hand drive (not in the listing) which meant altering the holes. Oh yeah it was 2" too narrow too.
Thought I'd best post just to make members wary of what they buy and to checkVW first as I've found them cheaper

I've had bad service too, and agree on the over inflated prices. Their customer service is shockingly bad too. It took them weeks to refund me after I returned a faulty down pipe that had open pipes where the 2>1 union should've been welded:
I'm giving them a wide berth from now on.
It's also much cheaper to go to 'VW Classic Parts' directly rather than buying any VW classic parts through them.

I got the EXACT same front bumper that VW Heritage supply @ £66.10 but from Euro Car parts for £36
I know its the same as I compared them at E38, Quality was pretty good on both though I'd say.
Crazy at nearly twice the price!

I bought a new front plastic grille from VW Heritage and it was a really bad mould, the plastic was rough and looked like it had been set on fire / melted a bit. That, and I had to trim away quite a bit of plastic to make it fit, generally a bad reproduction. Sold as a 'Klokkerholm' brand 'Good repro'. Fitted it anyway, noone notices but it's still a crap repro.

I just dealt with Heritage and gotta say I received pretty good service, I thought two items were missing from my parcel, phoned em up and they offered to send them out again the next day, I rather embarrassingly then found the parts that I thought were missing taped to the inside of the original parcel. I phoned and apologised, they were great about it.
Will be fitting up the panels over the next week or so, guess I'll find out then how well made they are, seem ok though.

Ive only had good experiances with them. I can say there front panel that they supplied me was a direct fit with no messing. Small light rear light seals are bang on profile to the originals (these are classic parts tho so they ought to be!)
Its actualy cheaper to order through heritage, you pay the same price but no postage.

€1.08 is equivalent to approx 0.85 pence. It's the same on all the VW Classic Parts they supply. Of course they're not going to be cheaper than VW Classic Parts but why go to VW heritage when you can go direct? :dontknow:
BTW VW Heritage only offer free UK delivery on orders over £50.

Thats a good example above and im shocked to discover that.
I suppose they are a business though and have to make a profit. They still work out vastly cheaper than other suppliers alot of the time

This was also true when I bought the exhaust down pipe from them, they were cheaper than any other supplier, but for the hassle it caused me I wished I'd paid more in the first place.Lee_dub said

I reckon it pays to shop around and any loyalty to any particular supplier is misplaced. VW Heritage seem to trade on the back of them all being into dubs and being the same as me and you, but I don't buy from them to be their friends.
I just want good quality parts at a good price with a good level of customer service if it goes wrong. We all make mistakes but the way they deal with their mistakes is poor.

It was perfect mate. After a quick rub down and squirt of high temp paint it was better than a new one. 8)

I either use TPS or GSF, both are fairly close and are very helpful.
My local GSF has most things on the shelf and are well priced.
