I really fancy dropping my '86 cab on ats classics but ive read that its very unpractical can anyone give me advice or point me in the direction of any other old skool lookin rims?

so long as you don't go too low it won't be too unpractical

it also depends on whether you are wanting to run a low profile tyre (i.e. 175/50/13) or a higher profile tyre (185/60/13) etc

will an '86 have the smaller plastic bumpers or the large late bumpers?

such small wheels don't always suit the late big bumpers

ATS classics are nice wheels, but there are loads of alternatives. And like Mk1John says above, as long as you don't go too low (were talking sump scraping, exhaust breaking low here) you shouldn't have any problems.

John is not wrong there i put a set of ats classics on my car just didnt look right at all! weird! (clipper kitted cabrio)
