advice needed please

hi guys.im pretty sad at the mo as my gorgi lil mk1 has a dent in the back wing and have been quoted 275 to get it sorted.now my ex boss reversed into it and said he'll get it sorted,so we didnt go through insurance (my biggest mistake) and carried on work.i talked to him about it next day and he said he would get some1 to pop it back out but when i said its more than just that he kicked off saying its not worth 100s of ?'s so wont pay that much.any how i handed my notice in after other various difficulties and before i said anything he said send him the bill..
now that sounds great and left on fairly good terms, shook hands and went.but now im scared he wont pay up,and, because didnt go through insurance and no 1 saw it happen he can turn and say he didnt do it and not pay/get away from it.
Anybody got any advice please?or can share similar stories and HAPPY endings perhaps??
Point for the future is i should ALWAYS get insurance details no matter who it is.happened last monday.

Thanks guys :(

..wright to him stating that you intend to go through the insurance…give him 14 days to pay up whatever you want …say an extra $50 on top of what you want for the extra trouble of wrighting etcc…say you intend to go through the insurance upon expirey of this date….then if all fails take his registration and go through your insurance. The insurance company can get his details……

...insurance companies have access to the data base for such reasons....i would wwwright to the prick rather than speak to him....leave your phone number on the letter and wait for a call from him....he will call you believe me!!!!.........good luck mate

Ask yourself if you're going to need a reference from him before you get too bullish.

If you go through the insurance company, there's a chance they'll write it off as a Cat D. Normally with 3rd party insured cars, they'll offer you the car and value it as 10% of the current market value (pre-accident). eg they'll offer you 90% of the current market value in cash + the car, instead of repairing it.

no reference from him cos im back at my old job.my car is fully comp tho but it was his fault.it will no way to be written off as its just a slight dent but in awkward position.im just worried he will turn around and say he didnt do it.hoping he'l just pay instead of the hassle of paper work.

see what he says to the quote, if he gives you any agro what so ever then just call your insurance company and explain all that happened, you might be wise to report it to police aswell if it goes that way as that will help your insurers, as he has failed to comply with the road traffic act 1988 and the accident is not section 170 complied with if he breaks his agreement of paying for the damage in cash

the insurance company would send someone to interview you and him about what happened, if he lies to them or mucks them about they can cancel his insurance!! not good for next years quote with anyone!! and they would fix your car using the legal fees side of things for you.

Why dont he think an older car costs as much to repair as new? same metal, same paint, same labour, some people :banghead: , i would have kicked him in the love spuds if he did that to my car
