70's VW van?

I've been offered a 70's VW van from a web page. The guy doesn't know the model but its in his grandads garage where it has stood unused for years. What VW vans apart from Campers were around in the 70's?

Well as far as models go, it's probably a bay window as these were made until the T3 (wedge, T25) which came in '79 (aircooled only) but are very few and far between.
It could also be an LT as these were made from '76 on.

As far as what it was used for, everything from camper conversions, panel vans, people carriers, coachbuilt campers (with big boxy backs), double and single cab pickups and loads of specialist vehicles mostly based on panel vans with special equipment.

But most likely it will be a bay window type 2 of some form, and as far as if you should get it, vans are pretty hot property at the moment and will only increase in value for the foreseeable future.
People are especially crying out for original, unmodified vans with low mileage to tidy up.

If this guy doesn't know what he's got, you could be on to a winner and may make some money simply getting it off him and putting it on eGay as things are a bit stupid on there at the moment.

If it is a splitty and they'll take anything less than 8 grand buy it on the spot, rotters go for not much less than that and decent bare shells go for more than that.

If IS a 60's van that's been in storage for 3 decades then it's the holy grail of vans.

GET IT!!

I have a'72 Bay and love it…

If it is a clean, unmolested Bay, would be a great investment… to keep or flog on. The Bus market is very buoyant on all models at the moment, so you can't go wrong… Buy it
