values of mk1s rise , but only standard ones what a load of rubbish, i have seen non standard golfs sell for far more money than even the best standard mk1 could ever hope to sell for any way mk1 is amk1 standard or not !
You're right 3piece, but from my observations only it seems the non-standard Golfs that fetch the high money are the ones that have spent thousands spent on engines, ICE etc etc. It's the more lowly 'been messed about with' MK1's that don't seem as desirable as a standard MK1 and therefore don't seem to make the money.

Funny how the standard cars are sold before you know it, but the same modded ones are often seen on Ebay time and time again?

maybe i am getting the wrong vibes but from what i have read on site there seems to be a bit of a taboo towards modified cars i have both and it states vw mk1 owners club
I suggest you read the section "About…" "Press Cuttings" where the motivation behind the club is described by Drew.
Personally I have one of the most modified cars on the scene and have no axe to grind about them. The comments made so far are based on fact and experience of some very knowledgable members.
The purpose of this forum is to hold lively, civilised discussion about both standard and modified cars.

Yes we are a club dedicated towards standard cars but that does not preclude modified ones. What the club is not about is supporting a strong modified scene as thare are other organisations that cover that comprehensively. What there wasn't was a club to support the standardised scene - and we are now just that.
We welcome standard cars as well as modified ones (dubboy's modded Mk1 is very nice). We also encorage healthy debate.

is my debate unhealthy ? did i miss my own point or did you
No, not unhealthy!! It's yours/our opinions at the end of the day.
As already pointed out we are bias towards the standard scene but like Rajan who has standard and heavily modified, you are more than welcome.
I think what's trying to be pointed out is that someone only interested in heavily modified wont get as much out of this site as they may from others.
Out of interest, check out the link below of pics from our Gaydon meet. You'll see high majority of standard cars but also some highly modded ones like Rajans

Would be interested to see pics of (Both!) your golfs! Feel free to post

Go to the 'Photos and Images' section of the Tools menu on the left of your screen. Click on the 'Owners Cars' category. At top menu of next page select 'Upload picture' and then click on the 'browse' button to look on your hard drive for the pic. Enter description etc if you want one and then click up load.
On this new forum (unlike the old one) it can host the pics for you so you don't have to have them on the net elsewhere and supply web link.
Hope that all makes sense
Cheers
Hairy one!
