16v on carbs - project back on track!

Woohoo!

Some of you may remember me posting that I had been given a 16v engine which needed some work - well it turned out to be foofed beyond revival.

Well, I just got a call from a friend who has bought a late valver for breaking and has offered me the engine (have to negotiate the price though… ).

Looks like project "Sucky Sucky" (16v on Honda CBR Carbs) is back on track… Well next spring it will be anyway - way too cold to be playing in the garage at the moment!

AL.

You must have been freezing!!!

I did have a heater, though never ever tried it. Gave it to my mate for his garage!

I think I have decided on my plan of attack:
I will put the valver in as it is on injection for the time being, down my mates garage so I can use his ramps/hoists etc.
I can then get the carbs refurbished and a manifold made up. Then I can play about fitting them at home in my own garage.

That way I won't have to leave my beloved golf anywhere for days/weeks while we get it running right on the carbs!

Ooh - I'm all excited again now!

Al are you going to have 2 Mk1s after this, or are you upgrading your current one?

Loving mk1s on T/Bs, seen the beige 5-dr that goes to No-rice?
