1/4 mile times
I'm from South Africa and own a 2.0lt 16valve golf 1. I would like to know what a naturally aspirated 2.0lt 16 valve golf does on a 1/4 mile on your side of the world…

I think you'd need to read through the thread to find the relative specs of the cars. I know #4 is a 2.0 16V, unsure on the faster ones. Some of the slower ones might also be 2.0 16V.

sorry meant to ask time over 1/4 mile…
mine does a 14.8sec
have a few golfs running on full methanol which are in the 12 sec bracket.
a friend of mine with a 2.0lt 8valve, 45 weber sidedraft and full methanol, worked head, 300 degree cam and modified gearbox, and car is stripped, he runs a 12.8 second on a 1/4 mile

No worries dude. If your friend can validate his time with a pink slip, then I'll edit the table (so he'll be at the top!) (Its definitely a Mk1, right)? Also if you can confirm where you set your 14.8, (basically was it done with proper timing gear?) I'll add you in too.
Yep it's a Mk1 2door. He has got his time on a legal drag strip here in SA, with proper timing gear…
My time is off a g-timer. Should have car ready for next drags so will get official time then bro… will keep u posted… thanks again
