An old bonneville, or a new one?

I seemed to hit 70 fairly quick the other day, pulling away from a roundabout onto a dual carriageway. might have had something to do with the 18 wheeler i pulled out in front of mind…

Basically hit the limiter in 1st,  backfired as i selected 2nd and floored it again. Changed up to third before the limiter.

be interested to hear how you get on… the Bonnie is a bike i reckon would shoot off the line, but runs out of puff at about 90…

dump the clutch at about 3500rpm and when the wheels spin back out of the throttle until traction is gained. change gear at about 5500rpm and you wont go much quicker. (this is how i pull away from most lights!)

when i sprint at pod etc i launch from idle believe it or not  :?
just match pressing throttle down to taking foot off clutch dont hold at anything more tha 1100rpm will take practice but will eliminate spin try it ! it took me a few atempts to get it right but it proved better at pod the first time i put it to use! and also used it at inters which was a shite concrete strip and it worked there too! there is no need to launch from high rpm all you do is introduce traction problems as you are alredy nearing peak power, yes i has some slight spinning but nothing much , i had slight spinning as i changed into second at around 5700rpm (seems to be the best rpm to change from 1st to 2ndand 2nd to 3rd  but take it to limiter in 3rd and int 4th)
i ran a 16.2ish before this technique (standard mk1 8v except k+n filter and supersprint exhaust) and with the new start and earlier shifting i averaged 15.7 thats half a second quicker that is a lot when it comes to 1/4 sprints
hope  i havent confused you
ps same technique with a 16v mk1 (157hp) only ran 15.5 dead and 7 dead to 60!

if the sumps not dented its not low enough
