"Caribe GT" the mexican mk1!?
Just spotted this 'Caribe GT' on the GolfGTI webiste, seems to be the mexican mk1 Golf /Rabbit! Anyone else know much about them? Are they just US spec Rabbits rebadged for Mexico?
Just wondered, its the first time i've ever seen mention of them, so thought you lot might be interested

Havent they recently stopped making the mk1 in south africa? I wonder if they will sell all the moulds etc on to a 3rd world country to continue making them. I sure hope so. Dont they still make brand new Morris's in India somewhere?
When i went to mexico 2 years ago i was very pleasantly surprised to see brand spanking new beetle's everywhere, fresh off the production line. I was seriously considering starting an import business, as they made such an impression. I've always loved beetles, but the sight of a brand new one with perfect panels, glass, paint, rubber seals etc. was incredible. Its all well and good to see them in a show & shine situation, but it just dosent compare to seeing them everywhere being used like regular new cars !

i dont like his jeans and the way he tucks his t-shirt in them, or the way he hangs his phone from his jean pocket, but i do like the way they have mk1 1.8 16v and mk2 2.0 16v as production cars probably with no rust too....... his tan aint bad neither i guess

yeah but once you've added all the import duty etc. etc. I think it comes to more than ?11,000… which still isn't that bad a price considering it's new!
