'81 GTI with 15 former keepers!.how many keepers on your MK1

yep thats an average of 1.6 years for each owner!!!

thinking about buying it!?!

is this a car to keep clear of?

everything seems straight about it appart from that.

only same as 1800s - bodywork IMO is upmost importance - see link on homepage about buying advice if you havent already

my golf was in the worst condition ever when i got her and she had only 3 kepers from new and over 500000 miles clocked up

As above if the car is solid and straight it would not bother me. My MK II valver 1991 has 9 previous owners but is rock solid and one of the best I have seen.

Wouldn't worry me at all, a lot of the time garages register cars to themselves and also family memebers register it twice eg. brother sells to brother so they change name in the V5 even though they live at the same address!

6 owners on my mk1, and I also decided to write to the previous owner on the log book.
He contacted me back by e-mail, result   :D
He had the car for 13 years and did 100k in it, I am hope he will be able to sort out some pictures of it for me.

He was very pleased to find out I am restoring it  :D

my 1982 cab gti had 26 owners  plus i know is got at lest 28 now and was in good con with only 67k on clock

13 previous making me the 14th and final. 155K GRM FSH orignal block & box
(manual has same # in it!) and it was 20 on 28-02-07.

there was a square-lite Mk1 at Stonor Park 06 - 1 owner 5545KM that was nice

My Cab was owned by the world and his dog at one time or other, didn't put me off. It's got loads of history and a complete set of manuals with tax and mots so who cares? Be honest people often buy cars like this for a novelty and that quickly rubs off and they sell again just to get a car that's got power steering!

If it's straight one, buy it!
