TSr-Performance

Hello,

After I've fitted my engine mods to my 16 valver I am wanting the WUR etc setting up on the rollers. I have been in touch with a few specialists around my area which say they can do the work for around £160.00 and can get great results. My father in law lives in Bridgewater Somerset which is the same town as the well known company TSR Performance. Me and my mrs are planning a trip down there in a few weeks to visit and I was thinking of booking the car in to be set up but their prices are a considerable amount more that any other tuning company I've been in touch with.

Has anyone ever used them and what was your experience like? Would you recommend? Would they do anything different to my KR engine that Noble motor sport wouldn't do?
Thanks for your advice.

they are not too far from me mate, and i went in and saw them when passing after i got my clipper, they seem to know there stuff and the guys were fairly helpfull, but i have heard a mixed bag of reviews for them, one thing is they do seem to be a bit on the steep side.

However sometimes you pay for what you get and the experience

If you do choose to go with them, please let us know how you get on

Cheers

Rich

I had an email from them today saying it would take approx 2 hours to complete the WUR mod and set the timing and fuelling on the metering head. He said I'd be looking at £130 based on the 2 hours which includes a before power run printing and after power run printing. I don't think thats too bad considering I've been quoted £160 + Vat from garages not too far from me.

I want to get one of their Newman 288 camshafts fitted, new timing belt and full service before I go down there. Should get the best out of it then.

I'll get the cam ordered and book it in then. I'll keep you updated.

Hi mate, absolutely gutted for you. Seems you had a bad time with them.

I did what i said I would do and took the trip down there to get my engine set up. I must say the chap that did it (Tom) was very knowledgable and did a cracking job. He managed to squeeze 170bhp out of my 2.0 16v ABF with the 288 cams. Turns out my fuel system was on its last legs hence the power result. Tom seemed to think it would produce nearer 180-185bhp with a brand new metering head. Instead I've decided to fit the original engine management to get some more fuel to the engine at a cheaper rate.

Anyway, it was a reasonably priced service that they offered and they did what they said they would do but I will say their customer facility's are some what shabby haha. Didn't get offered a drink (travelled 4hrs to get there) The toilet didn't have a light so couldn't find my you know what, no vending machines. We had to walk for about an hr to the nearest cafe'. With that in mind, take yourself a deck chair, a pack up and a good book as it's a long wait if you go. ;-)

Over all 7/10.

Hi Machine, thanks for your response. I pulled the topic only because i did not want an argument to start. I know what happened to me- and it was really hard given all the cash I had handed them- you responded, so job done! Glad to hear your job with Tom was ok and yes hes great, but 'administration' shall we say less so…
Strangely, I am just having a (Seat) ABF conversion done myself this week (and out with that TSR unit) I was told they can make 170++ but this ones std. Would be interested to know what your engines like? is it 'cammy' with those cams i.e rough tickover? or is it a smooth and powerful? Do you like it more with these 288 cams? This one uses all Seat original fueling and electrical kit properly plugged into all mk2 clocks and fuseboard, and has bigger twin fan rad etc etc.Have o2a gearbox etc with it. Seen it running in donor car- but never driven one!
Had to laugh, think that toilet bulb was missing 4years ago:)
Marcus.

I doubt it would have caused an argument, it's good to hear other people's experiences, especially when there's serious £££££ handed over, I would have left it to warn people.

Anyway…. I'm currently getting a load of help from Rubjonny with the wiring, I've sorted all of the mechanical but strougling with the electrics. It went like a rocket once they'd tinkered with it on the rolling road and It wasn't too cammy. The power delivery was fantastic!!

I had issues with my fuelling tho restricting the power output and I also had a few issues with what we think was the throttle idle pin do it used to cut out every now and then as it couldn't idle correctly. The ABF management should easily solve this.

It would be great to see what you've done so far with yours so I can compare. I have a thread going a the moment with the wiring and I did a thread with my engine build also.

I am using an 020 box.
