Rusty Fuel tank inside *NEW BOY*

Hiya

Ive got a rusty fuel tak wen you open the cap and look inside. Can anyone tell me please where i can go to get this fixed/replaced and how much it will cost?

Hi, do you mean the fuel filler neck is rusty? Im guessing that is what you mean as it is what you can see when you open the cap. They are renowned for rusting as mud builds up on top of them that comes from the rears wheels (design fault on the mk1) then gets wet everytime the car goes out in the wet.

The fuel filler neck is pretty easy to change over but be advised that if there are holes in the neck then the rust that has come away is sitting in your petrol tank! Might even be worth dropping the tank and cleaning it out at the same time.

I had the fault on my previously owned mk1 driver and it kept stopping fuel from getting to the engine as the rust parts were getting caught in the fuel lines from the tank, it took me AGES to find the fault!!
