Good mechanic/garage in berkshire area

Does anyone know a good reliable mechanic/garage in the reading area that isnt a complete rip off..
I live over thatcham way and try most things myself but there's a few bits beyond me, but i hate being ripped off..

Tried Mill road VW in reading with my mk2 and after a coupel of big bills from them for my MK2 its still had to go elsewhere.
also thatcham car sales on the A4 in thatcham, there service was appaling, quoted ?100 to do a service and change only the alternator belt on my caddy van (i know lazy but didnt have time to do it myself) when went to collect it the price went up by ?40, blamed itbecause they had to change the belts!! This was agreed in original price.. they just denied.. Complete rip off and lying bar stewards

Anyways, rant over…

if anyone knows anyone reliable whilst i learn more tricks myself then great, either that or if anyone could help me out with a few little jobs int he new year, such as cam belt change, timing set up etc would be appreciated

yeah mate, i use vag tech, there based on pepard common, a guy called sean, he`s helped me out no end of times, plus he`s a dub specialist..  tell no,, 01491 629002

Nope, still not found anyone, had a fair few nbumbers through, but havent gto round to organising anything yet..

I just need the cam belt changing on the GTi, plus a little look over and make its set up right ETC..
I can do pretty much everything else regarding basic service, just had a cam belt go ona  car a while ago, so I'm a bit anal when it comes to them

the garage i work for is based near didcot and we will do anything and we normally stick to our quotes i know the car anyway (spent to much time at crazyquiffs) will be at the berkshire meet this month if you want to chat about it

If BBSs place doesn't work out I take my mk1 to a garage in Binfield Heath, just north of reading on way up to Henley.  

He knows his stuff, and has a mk1 and a mk2 himself.

I also will be at the J&H on Wednesday  8)

Just had my MK1 restored and resprayed at a place in chalgrove oxfordshire TJH Engineering he has done a great job and really reasonable to. Labour charge of only ?25 and he has other golfs there he is working on. Number is 01865 891825 his name is toby hope this helps he also fitted a new ragtop for me.

Are thereany good guys who arent a rip off for Body work restoration like changeing floor pans, wings etc.

I do all that kind of stuff mate,no ripping off and a high standard of work too

Hiya i live in Newbury so not far from you at all.
Ive always had a similar prob although one of my customers is an ex audi employee and he works from home doin vw and audi i can always let you know his number if you want he lives tadley way

or ive just spoken to my bf and he does all the work on my mk1 mk2 and mk4 so if you want he will help out

bbab sounds V good to me, got a MK3 diesel thats in bad need of a service and I'm runing out of time to get it done..
