Engine replacement - Northants

Not sure if you are still looking for somewhere, but a few years ago when I lived in Northampton I used to take my Mk2 Jetta 16v GTi to a very reasonable guy who was an independent VAG specialist.

The place was called Lion Garages or The Lion Garage something like that. It was on a small indiutsrial estate near the Halfords off the A45 near to what used to be the Virgin cinema multiplex (going back a good 5 years now).

Might have been very near Weedon actually come to think of it.

It was run by a guy from Leicester, and I always found him good to deal with and he seemed to know his stuff (owned a Jetta Mk2 16v himself at the time - same colour as mine!). Obviously this was a little while ago, but his labour rates were about 25-30 quid per hour and he was happy to fit parts you sourced yourself.

He did all the regular servicing on my Mk2 16v, as well as a full head rebuild and a few other bits and bobs including fitting a new VAG exhaust I supplied.
