Engine conversion specialist- advise please
Nearly got rid of the Golf last month, but have decided to hang on to it and make it a bit more suitable to our needs. That means modern mechanicals as the wife isn't keen on the rattley old/rusty/noisy engine, brakes, steering etc.!
I'm pricing up having the engine swaped in the Sportline for something newer and more reliable, not bothered about outright power so considering a non-turbo engine from the recent VAG line up, or perhaps a 1.8T 150bhp. Needs to be quiet (!) fuel efficient, and stock.
The work is way beyond what I can manage so I've been researching professional options, but the quotes I've been getting have been around the ?7k mark!
Can anyone recomend someone a bit more reasonably priced pleased? I'm in Edinburgh but will travel the UK for the right company/person.
Cheers,
