Dangerous Bedford Garage

Hi
I thought i'd just share this piece of unfortunate news with my fellow residents of Bedford. The garage is Bedford Bike & Car Centre Kingfisher Business Park Bedford. I do not have any proof that this wasnt just human error or that there was anything wrong with anyother work carried out by this garage but would like to highlight my concerns and keep people safe till the matter can be investigated.

A picture says 1000 words…My test refusal

My invoice of work carried out

The ball joint was changed today by another garage but this was a dangerous mistake and at what cost ? A life? I had concerns about this garage and stopped taking my car there. I was told by another garage the ball joint had been in this condition since the MOT 7 months ago and was so dangerous he wasnt prepared to let me take the car away unless it was fixed or towed. I have driven this car 8,000 miles since the MOT and was about to take it another 600 to RTTS and back good job i got someone to give her a once over before hand or it might have been too late. Mistakes like this shouldnt happen. If anyone has similar concerns or has had work done by this garage please let me know.

cheers Kate

Yup not good huh and i THINK i dont know that they were breaking things so id take it back. E.g i had a water leak for like a year only slight id top up every couple of weeks n carry a bottle so i thought id get it looked at then like a week later all the water gushed out and i over heated on my way to work not good, and those bearings he tightened ooopsie two weeks later i can hear noise that sounds like a bearing needs replacing  :banghead: ! so i took it somewhere else lol at him for thinkin i'd go back !

I was going to mention that too - they spent 1? hours on it, and it still failed - what did they do for the other 1 hour 20 minutes???

Unfortunately, almost every garage is no better, and usually worse than, doing the job yourself. With a car such as the Mk1 Golf, if you're using garages to fix things all the time, it will soon add up to a lot of money and the money could have bought a number of very useful tools, etc.

allways take your car for a mot at a tester that dosent do repairs , unless you are friendly with the tester . imo anyway .
