Continental Autospares, York

Now then folks,

Does any one know what happened to continental autospares on Haxby Road in York? Went through there the other week and its now someones house! Gutted. Been using them since i got my first mk1 15 years ago.

Hi, they shut down sometime ago.  I think Colin Hick on Bootham can help with parts as he is the only VW specialist in York (not including main dealer).
I know what you mean though  used them since the eighties.

Thanks for that mate, will give him a try. It was handy having somewhere to pop in to locally, there was nothing they couldn't get their hands on!

Definitely shutdown more than a few years ago.

I also used to buy a lots of stuff from there many years ago, but got to a point where GSF better was better for both price and availability of parts.

Was a great shame, does anyone know why they closed it?

Not too sure, I've seen the guy who ran it at Colin Hick motors recently, felt a bit awkward about going over to ask though! I suppose with the amount of online parts suppliers there are now it wasn't worth their while trying to compete. Plus euro car parts is on Clifton moor! You're right though, great shame. 

Never minded paying a bit more over the odds there, decent people who you could chat about VWs to, they knew what they were talking about! Go to ECP at clifton moor and there is 6 guys sat on the phones all day when there is ten in the queue and 1 snotty kid running around on the tills! The place is a joke!
