Any MK1 Specialist in Northwest/Lancashire area?

Now I know some of you in the northwest use fat dubbers who are based in wrexham but thats about an hour and half away from me on a good run.

Just wondered if anybody knew a place near preston/chorley/blackpool or surrounding areas, let me know

Ive used a few in the Preston area over my 13 years of ownership.

For general servicing I use 'Little Bob' at School Lane Service Station, Bamber Bridge. 01772 336938.  
Last year I had a hot start problem and went to Pro Tec Performance

And they sorted the problem out - so far!! Good couple of guys there and Id use them again.


In Chorley there is a company called Auto Volk, been a while since I used them though… Er, about 10 years now I think about it!! The old guy who knew Mk1's retired I think. Can't vouch for them now.

I'm based in preston, lea area. Where are you based dan? I drive past pro tech everyday for work and its only a 5 minute drive from me so might be worth me giving them a go. On their website though it looks like they specialise in tuning.  I'm mainly after someone who I can just pop it too for any maintenance/servicing that will need doing. I have a mechanic who is based in preston and is into VWs but MK1s arnt his specialty so I wanted to pop it to someone who knows there stuff on these cars and give it a good check over/service, incase he spots something that my usual mechanic might miss. Would you highly recommend little bob then? google maps say hes nearly half an hour away from me.

I'm on Buckshaw Village now.

Little Bob is VW through and through. Mainly air cooled but he had a Mk1 cabby when I got mine so I naturally went to him. He's done me ok over the years. 
Not sure if Pro Tec do general servicing, it's worth a shout if you're that close. Mention me recommending them would you?? I've got a red cabby - if they remember. At least it sounds as if we talk and pass the good work tips around!!! 

I don't know anyone over Lea way.
