wont start

hi this doing my head in
ive got a mk1 gti cab 1990 the problem is when i 1st start engine fine ,
go to work etc leave it 5 mins it wont start it takes a good minute of cranking over to start,
when it does start it missfires for a few seconds then all is ok'
i have tried to cure it by changing the fuel pump the one in tank is fine ,the accumulator,thero time switch,warm up valve, theres no rust in tank as i have done all that as well

Sounds like leaky fuel injectors.

If you can get a spare metering unit cheap buy it, i had the same problem i replaced that and it sorted it.
 my old golf used to take ages to start only when it was warm, first time cold
