Will a cabrio manifold fit a tintop?

I know this has probably been asked a million times before….

But is there any reason why a cabrio exhaust manifold wouldn't fit a tintop one? I'm looking to buy a 421 and know of one for sale off a cab but weren't too sure wether it will fit?

Any replies much appreciated.

Cheers, Ross

You're right - its been asked before.

There's at least 4 different variations of manifold and downpipe: C clip fitting or 6 bolt; and 2 different diameters.

Whether cabby or hatchback, is not the issue.

In any case, a 4-2-1 manifold usually replaces both the exhaust manifold and the stock downpipe. Beware, there's no set way that it joins to the next part of the exhaust system, sometimes it ends and leaves a gap of a foot or so. It might (probably will) be a different diameter to the rest of your exhaust system, but this is worked around by using a suitable reducer.

The later (1985 and on, approx) exhaust is a different shape and different mounts than the early ones, too.

yeah i thought someone would have asked before (probably millions)

I've looked at the pics and it looks like it won't match up to my head? Did the later cabrio's have different head's to earlier GTi's? The exhaust i've got has a supersprint front pipe then a 2.25" custom build from there back so i think i might just bite the bullet and buy a supersprint manifold as i'm guessing there bound to fit :D

No

Maybe you're looking at a 16V manifold?
