What is the capacity of the Mk1 Golf fuel tank?

Hi all,

Simple question, as per title:  What is the capacity of the Mk1 Golf fuel tank?

Apologies if this info. is in a FAQ or Spec sheet on the forum somewhere.  I did spend some time hunting, but didn't find anything.

What year car? Later (1986 I think, and onwards) cabbys had a 55 litre tank; earlier cars including the hatchbacks had 45 litre.

I've got a Hatchback on an 'A' reg (1983), so sounds like I have a 45 litre tank.
