What exhaust?
i see msworld have 15% off the mongoose systems - they seem well made but the tail pipe isnt hapnin - so could buy it lopp off the tail pipe and have powerflow weld on a nice flame finish slash cut tail pipe when they are joinin it to the front flexi…
or go with magnex - which is a straight exit tail pipe
do supersprint do a stainless for the mk1 or is it only black paint finish?
don't really want a complete powerflow jobby as i want minimal bashing and welding going on under the car. ops:

Longlife will do a replica of the up turned exhaust in stainless - heard they are good, can choose noise level as well.
Supersprint do a nice rally version with up turn, although not stainless. Jetex do something similar.
If your after something different a company called Larini make a stainless exhaust for the 1.6 gti based on the original - check them out, usually they make exhausts for ferrari and lambo's.

slash cut is for jap cars, and still doesnot suit them either!
max on a golf is 4inch and sometimes i think that is to big!!! idealy i reckon a 3inch round inword roll keep it simple and subtle,
i read up on omp systems and heard good feedback from them, and a bloke on ebay does a full system for 140ish quid not stianless though but should last a lot longer then the standerd.
i always have the last laugh

mmm still not sure though…
my bro's mk1 16v has a powerflow system - real sharp bark off it from 4000rpm on up…. sounds real good.
but then thats a lot of fabbin and weldin etc….
:dontknow:
i think 3" tail pipe is the max - still do like a nice angle exit to the left (ok not slashed) but maybe some fired finish on it???

they do two styles of exhaust
1 with an 70/90mm oval tail pipe exiting at an angle
or
1 with a 80mm round rolled in tail pipe exiting at an angle
both either in 2" or 2.5" the 2.5 comes with an extra rubber system to prevent the exhaust clanging on the rear axle.
prices are ?220 for either.
wot ya think?

I am in the same predicament, wanting;
1. perfeormance exhaust
2. bent exit at the rear (like original)
3. one that looks standardish (in tail size)
Got any pictures of it etc?
