Weber on 1.8 clipper

Have just had a good day at the scrappers! Found a 32/34 weber on a mk2 golf to fit on my clipper, all for ?10!!!!!

My question is though, I could only get the carb etc off down to the alloy mating plate, and could not get the rubber gasket off the top of the inlet manifold as the bolts were knacked. Do you I need this rubber part or is this fitted anyway to the bottom of the Pierburg?

Basically, from top down I have the :-

Air filter bracket
Carb
Paper gasket
Alloy mating plate with speedo cable bracket
Choke cable

Does anyone know if this is all I need or should I go back and wrestle the rubber mount off??

Cheers
Paul.

What a lucky guy, a tenner! I paid 140 quid for mine.

There is two types of mounting plate. 3 Screw version or 4 Screw version. Mine is the 4 screw version. Now the rubber flange that bolts to to manifold with the peirburg 2e2 is 4 small bolts. The pierburg bolts down to this with 3 long screws. Which are at the top or the carb

If you look at your mounting plate you really should have 3 countersunk screw holes. this bolts down to the rubber flange. Its good practice to replace this part due to age and heat cracking it. GFS have two types. The standard 3 Screw type which is probs what your mounting plate will fit onto. The 4 screw type is for a larger ported mounting plate. this is the version i have on mine. It was supplied with the carb. So i had to buy the more exspensive Flange. If you take the mounting plate with you, you can match up the correct flange.

Anyhow you have had a great buy. Loose the peirburg!. The jets are easy to get hold of too. Here is a link to Jet sizes!

If you take out your jets, can compare them to the chart.

Hope it helps
