water in the bores,,,help

Hi,, ive just fitted a 1.8 gti mk1 engine in my car, ive taken off the injection manifold and fitted a carb and manifold. now ive got water in the bores,, any ideals!!!.

Was it second hand and did you check it before fitting? If yes & no then could be water from lying outside

engine was running with inj system on the doner car, i think theres a water way on the head??,, but im not sure..

Forget, the carb head has a coolant channel in the back that feeds water round the 2E2 carb. If it has a Weber then you don't need the coolant channel and it can be blocked off, however some GTI heads have a vacuum port where the coolant channel is  :banghead: . You will need to chop this down and blank off otherwise the carb inlet won't fit properly and this could be the source of your water ??

yes, got weber fitted i've taken out the port.
will i have to blank the water to the manifold!!!
