Strange Clipper problems..?
My Clipper will fire up and tick over all day with no drop in revs in any weather or outdoor temperature.
But when I take it for a spin it will cut out as if the key has been turned off.It then struggles to start and will only start with the choke out but planting the loud pedal it will die.
I only got down the road tonight and spent most of the return journey coasting home.
It has recently been fitted with a new weber carb and fuel pump and today I fiited a new coil thinking that was the problem but to no avail.
The fuel tank is clean and the fuel is getting through no problem.
It seems to cut out under load only.
Any ideas before I become tempted by the ?2000 government offer towards a new car although the last thing I want is for it to be scrapped.
Any ideas?

Can you make it cut out on the driveway?

Running on the drive I can rev it all day and it will keep on running all day.

Another possibility is a loose wire on the low tension side of the ignition. It won't be the coil - they can operate under hard acceleration, and even upside down!

Have been told that its probably the coil (although as you've replaced this then not the case) or the hall effect sensor in the distributor.
My mate had the same problem with his mk2 16v and changed the hall sensor which has seemed to of cured it.
I have ordered one from gsf and will post the outcome of this on the big block forum.
rowdy.

mine was doing this at the weekend, you could start it from cold and leave to tick over fine, then go for a drive fine but when you came to a stand still the engine cut out.
it would start up straightaway and drive like before.
if you parked up for 10 mins then it was very hard to restart,my problem was the mixture
all i did was turn the mixture screw 1/2 turn and now its running fine.
hope this helps
