Starts fine then dies after 5 secs
I have been trying to sort a problem that has been driving me mad… Poor starting from cold.
Now my 91 sportline starts then idles slightly high or low and then dies and conks out after about 5 secs.
I'm suspicious of fuel pressure, but this current problem has only started happening after I removed the two lines to the CPR to check for rust/debris - what have I done???
History.
Rusty filler neck - no issues apart from petrol all over my shoes one day - replaced and as much rust removed from tank as possible.
In tank pump and filter - changed and cleaned.
main fuel Pump changed - it siezed whilst driving - so changed again.
Difficult to start from cold - changed CSV and TTS.
Changed filter.
Checked all banjo bolts on all fuel pipes - one on CSV totally blocked up - cleaned.
Had a service and tune-up (new plugs/leads/RA).
New injectors.
New relay/fuses checked.
So there you go thats it so far apart from the hours of therapy.
Before I touch it again can anyone suggest where to go next?

The next thing to do is a full system pressure test - get a kit borrow or buy one of mine here - http://www.golfmk1.co.uk/Tester.htm
I suspect the Warm up regulator is at fault.

I'm heartened that you think it might be the Warm-up reg - I'll definitely be getting the test kit and running the tests - seems like an invaluable addition to the tool box!
Just to get an idea would you have a warm-up reg available? - maybe if you could PM me when you have a moment?
I know for a fact this is the part that has rounded allen key bolts (my fault - but you only do it once) so I reckon its going to be a pig to remove…
