Sportex Exhaust and Manifold Help!?!

Can anyone tell me if the downpipe from the cast iron manifold that connects to the centre section is the same length on all big block engines?

I recently bought a Sportex exhaust, it looks well manufactured but when I tried to fit it there was a foot or so gap between the centre section and the manifold down pipe!! It was advertised as being for the GTI, my car is a 1.5 GL but I thought that all the big block engines had the same exhaust set-up!!!

 Has anyone had this problem? Could I solve it by fitting a GTI manifold/downpipe?

From memory I think the standard set up is shorter than say an after market 4 branch manifold.

If I were you I'd either get myself a 4 branch manifold (this will help your system flow alot better anyway), or just nip to your local breakers and see if you can find a gash bit of pipe to splice in to your system. Another good place to ask is any exhaust fitters, see if thay have any pipe laying around that you can have for nothing.

By the way I have a four branch manifold to sell if you want, it came off a 1.8 GTI head, if you think it'll fit yours you can have it for £60 posted?

Cheers for your help, might have to go and have a play in the scrapy with some bits of pipe. I was thinking about buying a 4 branch but i want to know it will fit first. What make is the one your selling? That is a good price, hmmmm tempting...

Not sure what make it is, It cost me £200 about a year ago, was only fitted to the car for a month.
