i have a mk 1 golf gti thats not running right it lacks power got it tuned up said it could be metering head got it off ebay getting fed up can any 1 help

How's it not runing right? Where is the power missing, is it running rough at all? Sounds like fuelling, but could also be dodgy fuel injectors, sensor plate etc.

its very hard 2 start first thing and yes it is running rough like its missing a little bit put new injectors on 2 and had it rolling road tested

they think its the metering head this is the second 1 that i put on paid 60 quid of ebay he said it was spot on when he took it off

There are a couple of things to do to setup a metering head. You are supposed to check that the plate is central to the cone, and that it sits at the correct height at rest. Then, the mixture adjustment is integral to the metering head.
If you're buying secondhand parts, there is no real way of knowing its fine, unless you witness the car running previously with it!

Best bet is to get the one(s) that you have examined at your nearest Bosch Service Centre (see Yellow Pages), as it's more likely that it is out of adjustment for your car, rather than it's no good at all.
They can do all sorts of tests on the whole fuel injection system (system pressure, control pressure, warm-up regulator, air-bypass valve, etc) that even your average garage can't do because they don't have the correct gauges, etc.
