rev counter

not sure if this is the right forum lol

my golf gti rev counter is very eratic needle jumps up and down and when needle drops it nearly stalls

any  suggestions much appreciated

could be the hall sender in the dizzy or wiring to it, or it just needs a service, check and tuneup
