re webber carb or 2e2 carb

hi
still having loads of problems with my 89 clipper and i was wondering if it would be better to fit a webber carb instead of the 2e2 carb fitted at the moment and does it make any difference as this car is an auto gearbox

cheers

Hello daisy44, sure the weber is a great carb. Is your car a 1.8 or a 1.6? either way a weber 32/34 DTML is the common upgrade for most big block engines. The 2E2 pierburg was a good carb in its day. Its well over complicated to set up for most DIY`s. Finding a good one is a lot harder than the weber. Also you would loose the auto choke and gain the manual choke idea.
Ebay has many 32/34 DTML carbs for sale, even tho hold out for a bargin as the prices vary lots.

If you go down the road of getting one for yours, make sure you ask what it is jetted for, and also you get the mounting plate for the Mk1 manifold. A new rubber flange would`nt go a miss also. GFS supply these at around 15 beer tokens.

As to the difference well i would`nt go back to the 2E2. The power, smoother and just as economical and above all, simple in design.

Good luck
